At Kids Books by Marvin, FUN is the guiding principal.
If I can offer books such as Sammy Squirrel and the Sunflower Seeds, Ferdinand Frog's Flight, The Day X Ran Away, Case of the Stolen Stash, and The Queen's Tea; books that bring a smile to a child's face while subtly exposing him/her to traditional family values, my mission in life will be fulfilled.
My books never preach. I let the characters do the talking and let them, and our readers, learn that doing the right thing helps them feel good about themselves.
Come On, Grandpa; You Can Do It! is an exception to the "fun" rule noted above. While it still doesn't preach, and the characters still do the "teaching," it was written NOT for pure entertainment, but to help young children understand what may be happening to a grandparent, great-grandparent, parent, aunt or uncle who's appearance and behavior suddenly change as the result of a stroke. Hopefully, it's rhyming verse approach still will make it a "fun" read while still conveying an important message to a frightened young child.
A brand new book to help young children understand what is happening to a loved one when that person survives a stroke.
Is your child already reading on his own? If so, he may be interested in one or both of my easy reader "Chapter" books
